We’re making preparations for the sweetest run of the year.Here are answers to some of the questions we get most frequently!

 Q: How can I register?

A: While we recommend registering as early as possible, Online Registration will remain open right up until 8:55AM on event day!

This means walkup registrants at advance packet pickup and on race day will be directed to the online registration using their own device.  These registrants should then proceed to the walk up registration table for bib assignment.   

Q: Can I pick up my race bib and shirt prior to race day?

A: Yes, you can and you should!

**Road Runner Sports will make a donation to the Fetal Health Foundation for every bib that is picked up on Saturday!!

 

Q: Do I need to register my child for the 5K?

A: If your child is riding in a stroller they do NOT need to be registered (and will not receive a t-shirt).

Everyone else participating in the 5K, whether running or walking, must be registered and wearing their bib number on the front, outermost layer of clothing.

 

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Yes, friendly dogs on leashes are welcome but please be considerate of those around you.

 

Q: What is the schedule for Sunday?

Schedule of Events:
8:00 AM Bib Pickup Opens
8:45 AM Free Kids Fun Run (ages 6 & under)
9:00 AM 5K Starts
9:55 AM Awards Ceremony (approximate time)
Music & festivities ongoing from 9AM

 

Q: Will there be awards?

A: Yes. we will be awarding the following:

  • Fastest Overall Male and Female,
  • Top 3 Males and Females in each age group: 12 & Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90 & Over.

Results will be posted online at halsports.net throughout the event.

 

Q: What about the costume contest?

A: Yes! Our judges will be on alert throughout the event checking out the sweet costumes but also be sure to listen for instructions on event day for showing off your amazing candy themed costume!

 

Q: Will there be a water station on the course?

A: There will be one water stop on course. Be sure to thank the volunteers as you pass through!

 

Q: Where do I find the start line?

A: The Start Line is located inside Washington Park. Check out the course map for further reference.

 

Q: Are there finisher medals?

A: YES! Volunteers and staff will be handing out finisher medals to those that complete the course and are wearing their bib number.

Q: Can I participate virtually?

A: YES! If you registered as a virtual participant, your materials will be mailed to you within a few days of the event. If you registered to attend in-person but you would like to switch to virtual, please contact michelle@thegreatcandyrun.com.

Q: What does it mean to participate virtually?

A: Great question! When you participate virtually – you can choose the time and place to complete your 5K. It’s so flexible you can even cover the distance over multiple days or run, walk, bike, crawl, skateboard…– it’s YOUR choice!
