In a few weeks The 11th Annual “The Great Candy Run” in Denver will be under full sweetness. What started out as a way to raise awareness and much needed financial support, has become one of the must-do events in Colorado. The premise is and has always been about family.
Recently while waiting for my client to show for a meeting at a coffee shop, there was a mom and her young son. Mom was reading to her son, a fun and fantastic story. His eyes would light up with each twist and turn in the story. How wonderful she was taking this quality time for her son. She was being actively involved with him creating an everlasting memory. Something I think we all need to do more of in our lives is creating those memories from such simple activities. The Great Candy Run is just that, a way for families to come together and create those memories while supporting the Fetal Health Foundation.
The family memories, the candy, it is all sweet, but the purpose of our event and mission is one of hope. You see the memories I observed being made by Mom and her son are never to be memories by some 200 families every day! Those families lost their child to a fetal syndrome. They will never have that memory that this Mom had this day. They will never see that smile on their child’s face. They will never even know their child’s personalities.

Fetal Health raises much needed funds to provide these families HOPE. We do this from events like The Great Candy Run and your wonderful additional donations. Today’s medical specialists in the world of fetal medicine are making amazing strides on curing and treating these conditions. Something I know firsthand. My twin daughters were saved by in-utero surgery at just 21 weeks into our pregnancy. Without it, they would have never survived, and there were many moments when things seemed dire despite the surgery, but there was always HOPE.

I invite you to watch the video above about the journey of one family who faced a fetal syndrome that sadly there was no cure for. This is a tear jerker, but realize that 200 families again every day are faced with this same reality. Instead of planning baby showers and decorating nurseries, they are planning their unborn baby’s funeral. If you are moved by this video, I ask you to please help support us by donating.
Every amount, large or small, goes directly into providing the immediate hope through support and research. You can donate by clicking here.
