Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew, cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two? Well we all know the Candy Man can, and what better Candy Man than Pete from Jacksonville’s own Sweet Pete’s Candy Shoppe.

Following the fun of the Gumdrop Kids Fun Run and the traditional 5K event on September 28th, Sweet Pete’s will host a candy buffet at the Finish Line. Participants will be able to choose from an array of lollipops, caramels and other assorted candies, making it the sweetest finish ever.

[blockquote name=””]“I was very excited when Fetal Health renamed the run, The Great Candy Run. As the only local, all natural candy shoppe, Sweet Pete’s believes it is important to support local children’s charities,” said Shoppe Owner, Peter Behringer. “This unique event allows my company to support a needed cause and help children who are not yet born realize a healthy birth and life. We are very excited to participate in this sweet race!”[/blockquote]

Benefiting the Fetal Health Foundation, this sweet event will provide a few miracles, too, mainly by supporting families whose babies are diagnosed with intrauterine fetal syndromes. The Foundation, started in 2006, has since supported thousands of families around the country with regard to travel assistance, diagnosis and treatment information, and even counseling and bereavement support.

The Great Candy Run anticipates a crowd of over 500 participants and spectators and will be held at Atlantic Theatres in Atlantic Beach. The event includes a traditional 5K run/walk with a competitive Stroller Division, a free Gumdrop Kids Fun Run for smaller children, and a family festival full of games and activities, refreshments, a costume contest, and local entertainment.
